Mindfulness is seeing things with fresh eyes

What is mindfulness to you?

___________________________________________

Now more than ever it's so important to be mindful. We've all been through a lot this past year for sure, so it's time we take our everyday life/routine seriously.

By this, I mean being actively mindful of the actions you're doing.

Are you mindlessly scrolling through Facebook or Instagram?

Take a moment of reflection:

Why are you scrolling?

Are you Bored?

Is there an area of lack in your life?

What could you be using this time for?

Being mindful is to acknowledge what you are doing and to be and embrace the moment.

For example: Watching the sunrise, or the sunset, holding a newborn, growing your own vegetables.

Being mindful does not need to be difficult, in fact, it's rather the opposite. It gives us clarity and a moment of power to simply be ourselves.

It's seeing the world with a fresh pair of eyes, regaining your fluent ball of energy for the rest of your day.

1. Mindfulness is - A Superpower

It's really hard to be mindful when you need to be throughout your day, but it's incredibly important to express that being aware of your thoughts and feelings is your superpower.

You control and create your emotions and thoughts, thus create your self-talk and judgement.

There are many moments during your day where you could be angry, annoyed and frustrated, but if you take a moment and think about why you are feeling this way and respond wisely, maybe take a few breaths as well then your mood/mindset automatically changes.

Why let something small affect your entire day?

Getting heated and angry is literally a waste of your time and energy. Focus on shifting this energy/frequency to something else.

Being mindful is a choice. You choose what to focus on. You choose how you react to a situation.

Choose to be self-aware. Choose to be confident, Choose peace, but most importantly choose yourself.

2. Mindfulness is - Great for Mental Health

When you focus on mindfulness, you're focusing on the present moment therefore you are shifting from regrets of the past or worries from your future. You focus on the now.

In this state, we are able to have deeper conversations and less on low self-esteem and success.

Mindfulness can improve a number of things for example, the amount of sleep you get, blood pressure, chronic pain, and stress.

Being present, allows your thoughts to come and go. There is no judgement.

Over the years it is known to help with anxiety which is a big thing I preach about, depression, eating disorders, and OCD.

It helps to accept what has happened in the past, your whole experiences and react differently. They serve no hold on you.

Practising mindfulness daily in the forms of meditation or sitting in silence is a form of therapy that helps to release self-sabotaging thoughts and gives perspective.

Allow your body to feel the emotion, whatever it may be, the smell, taste, touch, sight or sound, notice them and then let those thoughts pass.

Sometimes your mind will wonder and that's okay, just bring your focus back to acknowledging the thoughts or emotions. Let them go.

There is many mindful meditations out there, yoga/pilates meditations or simply soft music relaxation, guided meditations.

Nothing works for everyone, but trial and error to find the right one for you is key.

3. Mindfulness is - Empowering

When being mindful and letting it all go and removing the stress from within you, you will then be able to focus on embracing and enjoying life.

You'll start to see noticeable changed and succeeding and achieving more in your life than you ever had before.

Mindfulness makes us feel good, lets us gain clarity, more productivity, and be grateful. Feeling gratitude for the things in our life. The more we are grateful and compassionate for ourselves and things in our life the better we feel and good things will happen for you (not to you).

Keeping a gratitude journal as well just raises your vibrational energy and empowers you to become so much more. To become your higher self.

Thank yourself for looking after your body, your mental state, just be thankful you are here today even if you have or are struggling. It's totally okay to be struggling, we all have at some point, some more than others.  Just knowing you are not alone in this and practising mindfulness will help you on your way to embrace the more confident you.

4. Mindfulness is - Awareness

Mindfulness is about awareness. Becoming aware of our thoughts and emotions. Becoming aware of how we react. Disengage from being on autopilot for 97% of your day.

What good does it do you to be on auto pilot?

You miss out on so much, you aren't aware of things going on around you.

When you become more aware you change your life. You stop playing victim to your thoughts. You stop and listen.

Listen to the birds singing and chirping in the morning. You start listening to your family and friends. You start to be a more caring being who doesn't hate on other people, who doesn't argue for the sake of arguing with anyone.

You become more at peace and would rather have peace in your life than a chaotic, stressed day 24/7.

5. Mindfulness is - Good for Recovery and Focus

So my last and final point of today is mindfulness is good for recovery and focus.

You may have had an injury, been ill, having a hard time, whatever it is being mindful and stopping to think brings you clarity and awakens you to being proactive and looking after yourself.

When you take good care of yourself, when you listen to your body when it's hurting or in pain or needs some TLC your body will heal quicker, your mindset brightens quicker. You are in a high frequency and everything around you fits.

Mindfulness is taking good care of your mind and body. When you take good care of your brain and your mindset, the rest takes good care of itself.

You are the master of your thoughts.

You create your future.

Your creat your reality.

How do we do it?

I've talked about the 5 things that mindfulness is, how how do we go about achieving it I hear you ask.

It sounds simple but is harder for others.

You need to train your mind, train your discipline muscle.

When your alarm goes off in the morning, do not hit snooze. Get out of bed and stand up, or sit there in silence.

Do it from the moment you wake up to start, or the moment you go to bed. Sit in silence and listen.

The biggest step is to just do it. Start waking yourself up to the possibility. Start making that CHOICE.

You are one decision away from a totally different life.

Be grateful for your choice today and regretting you hadn't started.

Start showing up for yourself.

Create a diary of the moments you account for. Write down what you see, hear and think.

Come back to the journal and read it. Motivate yourself.

Create habit stacking. Put things in place by your bed or in places you usually go so it reminds you to take action after another activity that you do. For example, I leave a 1.5 litre of water by my bed every night so that in the morning it's the first thing I see and the first thing I drink, I could start leaving my book too therefore after my drink I would read etc.

Start being your authentic and truest self.

Become more mindful and transform your days, your months, your years and your life.

Have a beautiful rest of your day!
